Dr. Carter has deep roots in the Midwest. During her lifetime she has lived in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas, and then moved to Kansas City in her late high school years. She went on to receive her undergraduate degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Independence, Missouri. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Carter was an enlisted member of the United States Army Reserve for 5 years prior to her medical career pursuits. She was then commissioned into the United States Air Force during medical school. She was brought to Illinois by the Air Force where she served as an active duty physician until 2012. Dr. Carter is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
